Society of Will Writers Welcomes LSB proposal to recommend the reservation of will writing and estate administration.
The Society of Will Writers welcomes the news that the Legal Services Board will be making the recommendation that will writing and estate administration become reserved activities. The research carried out by the Legal Services Consumer Panel and the Legal Services Board highlighted that there are some shortcomings across all providers of will writing services.
The regulation of the sector will give all providers of these services a level playing field. This will be welcomed by professional will writers who offer a good service to their clients but have been unable to gain the respect they deserve.
The Society of Will Writers will continue to communicate with the Legal Services Board and the organisations who are proposing to apply to regulate the sector. We are delighted to have Antony Townsend, CEO of the Solicitors Regulation Authority address our annual conference on the 8th October.
We will continue to work with our members to increase education standards and the quality of service that is offered to the public.
The Society of Will Writers (SWW) is a non-profit making self regulatory organisation which seeks to Protect the Public and serve the interests of those men and women who are active professionals in our field.
All SWW members are covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance, with the Society main scheme being underwritten by the UK’s leading insurance company Hiscox. Members are bound by the SWW’s code of practice and disciplinary and complaints procedures, copies of which are available from the society upon request.
All SWW members go through a stringent vetting procedure and continuing training to ensure that they are suitable persons to properly write a will.
